Culture Makers - Reflections

How have the last couple public gatherings stirred you? How are they altering your thinking about life, particularly life as a follower of Jesus? What questions remain? What observations have you made? Etc., etc.

I would have to say, it really makes me realize how much God doesn't need me. But he allows us to apart of his kingdom plan. No man or woman alone will change someones heart.
And more importantly that we are a work in progress just like the people we pray and minister to.

Jesus walked.

In other words, he led a very ordinary life.

It was WHO he was, not WHAT he did that made him relevant in his day & even still, 2000 years later.

I've considered the issue--it WHO we are, not WHAT we do--deeply.

It messes with me.

It challenges me to embrace my role as a follower of Jesus. That's not something I'm totally comfortable with...really at all.

It has helped me, too.

If God really flows through all that we do, then we don't have to do any particular thing to cause him to show up. He just is. He is...when I walk with my co-workers. He is...when I have a group of friends over for dinner. He is...when I meet someone downtown.

I love that, because it affirms to me that God is organic--not forced, not proselytized.

Jesus walked...and God happens.

Steph,

Can you separate WHAT Jesus did from WHO He was? Isn't WHAT He did (and does) because of WHO He is? If He didn't live perfectly obediently to God's will, die, and then ressurect would He have EVER been relevant? Something to chew on.
